Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Paperi (the “Service”), operated by Ing. Petr Bobák, Ph.D., IČO 06359302, Kleštínek 381/14, 621 00 Brno, Česká republika (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these terms.

1. What the Service does

Paperi turns documents you provide (e.g. research papers) into a narrated video walkthrough with synchronised highlights, generated automatically using third-party AI models. Output is produced by automated systems.

2. Eligibility & your account identity

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. Your access to a paid plan is tied to a durable identity (a browser cookie plus an emailed access link); keep your access link private, as anyone with it can use your subscription.

3. Your content and the rights you must have

You keep ownership of documents you upload. You grant us a limited licence to process them solely to produce your walkthrough and operate the Service. You represent that you have the right to upload and process each document — for example, you are the author, it is openly licensed, or you otherwise have permission. Do not upload material you are not permitted to use, or content that is unlawful, infringing, or contains others’ personal data without a basis to share it.

If you publish an Author Studio project, its video abstract becomes publicly viewable by anyone with the link (including a preview image and the paper’s title), and you confirm you have the right to make that paper’s content public in this form — for example under your publishing agreement or the paper’s licence.

4. Acceptable use

Do not abuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to circumvent the limits of the Service, and do not use it to produce unlawful or infringing material. We may apply rate limits and a fair-use cap, pause intake, or suspend access to protect the Service.

5. AI output — accuracy and no reliance

The walkthroughs are AI-generated and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. They are an aid to orientation, not a substitute for reading the source. Do not rely on the output for any decision without verifying it against the original document. The Service is provided for informational purposes only and is not professional advice.

6. Subscription, billing & one-time purchases

The Reader plan is a recurring subscription billed at the price shown at checkout (currently $9/month), through our payment processor, Stripe. It renews automatically each month until you cancel, and your payment method is charged at the start of each period. “Unlimited” use is subject to a fair-use cap of 100 walkthroughs per rolling 30 days. Prices may change with notice; changes apply to future renewals.

Author Studio publishing is a one-time purchase per paper at the price shown at checkout (currently $29), also via Stripe. It applies to the specific project you publish: it removes the watermark, opens that project’s public share page, and unlocks its video download. Drafting and editing are free, and you can watch the complete (watermarked) video abstract before deciding to buy. One-time purchases do not renew and are not a subscription.

7. Cancellation & refunds

You can cancel at any time from your account’s billing portal. See our Refunds & Cancellation policy for how cancellation, access until period end, and refunds (including EU withdrawal rights) work.

8. Availability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and video generation may fail; where a paid walkthrough fails we will re-run it or credit it.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on AI output. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.

10. Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified on this page or by email. These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without affecting mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
